Project leader Tom Bennet is continuing with the Nathusius' pipistrelle project this year. During the first weekend of May a team of volunteers from Derbyshire and Leicestershire bat groups gathered at Rutland Water to have a weekend of day and night surveys in the continued hunt for a female Nathusius' pipistrelle so that we can find out more about their breeding status in the region. Plenty of male Nathusius' were found during both the bat box checks during the day and nocturnal surveys at night but no females. The hunt continues.
